How do I improve the water pressure in my apartment?
Question:I just moved into this apartment, which is on the ground floor of a 5 year old building. The water pressure in the bathroom and kitchen sinks is VERY strong, but the shower is like a spritzing. When I lived in a different unit on an upper floor in this building, the shower water pressure was normal.
How do I improve the water pressure? I have access to my water heater tank thing and I know it has some dials, etc. Or, would it be better to replace the shower head?
Thanks!
Answers:
Take your shower head off, there should be a small disc in there, it's the water saver, toss it and put the head back together. I had mine so I couldn't remove it so, I drilled it out.
dependant on the type of shower you are using it seems that you need a pump to increase pressure and or a possible change of shower type
is your mains stopvalve fully open
Well a couple of things:
You prob have a low flow shower head and a cheap one at that.Low flows restrict water flow in order to promote conservation(and save landlords water bill)
Replace it with a new one but save the old one to re-install when you move.
Your shower head might be clogged with lime or other mineral deposits---If you soak it in a product called clr,you might have seen it on a TV commercial, that will dissolve the deposits or replace it remembering to set the old one aside...
they might have rust particles in the shower head or in the water faucets.Take the off and clean them
