Painting queston?
Question:Whats the best tool or method to keep paint lines perfectly straight, between ceiling and walls.
Answers:
Dude are you in luck I have been paiting for years and what I am about to tell you is what they call an old painters trick.to make strait lines aplly about 24 in of tape then put a small caulk bead,(cut tiny hole on end of caulk tube), finger the caulk then paint with brush ,do not let caulk dry, remove tape perfectly strait no bleed under tape repeat steps down length of wall or around doors windows etc. as you get good with brush you can increase length of tape good luck from Texas
Masking tape i use it all the time .
Masking tape.
Tape
Is this a serious question?
Painters tape, however I had some paint bleed under the tape. I bought a $3.00 wall/ceiling edger from Home depot and it works great. there will be a slight gap, but once your finish you can't really see it.
use a good brand masking tape. not from those dollar stores. you would think your saving money, but they are horrible.
when you apply the tape to the wall/ceiling, don't rip off a long piece of tape and then try to tape it to the wall/ceiling. leave the tape on the roll, and about every 6 inches, roll out more tape while your pressing the tape on the wall/ceiling. this will prevent the tape getting stuck to you, the wall, itself, and will make straighter lines.
have fun painting.
If you have a ceiling that is smooth, like your wall, just put painters tape on ceiling or wall, which ever you are painting. If have a popcorn or textured ceiling, at a hardware store you can get a roller pad. It will give you the best line other than freehanding it. With a textured ceiling you may not be able to get a perfect straight line due to the type of texture being in angles of ceiling and wall. A tip, don't try to use tape on textured ceiling cause you can't get the tape flat and your paint will seep beneath it onto the ceiling, been there-done that!! Good luck!!
You need an edger...
Don't use tape..
Tape can be too messy if you do wrong...
If you were experienced, obviously your not, I would tell you to free hand it. Have fun. A good edger will be about $10.00 .

practice and experience....
masking tape and a level, most walls are not true level although the bubble may be centered, you will often find that the walls on a house are not true square, watch them being made sometimes and you will understand,, once you figure your starting point then you can mark and tap measure from there,
a steady hand and good quality brush that's all I use
hello painter here, i used to sell paint before i put it on so i know of the perfect diy tool for you. if you have flat ceilings (no popcorn) they make a pad with two wheels on it. just dip the pad and run along the wall with the wheels touching the ceiling. don't get paint on the wheels tho! if you have popcorn, a steady hand is your best bet. i wouldn't use tape, only because it takes a long time to get it set rite and it usually bleeds through.
good luck
