How cheap are window A/C units?

Question:

Answers:
I bought an window unit for 80.00 at Walmart. It works great. The price depends on the BTU's it puts out. You might be able to find a cheaper one on line, but the shipping costs might be too expensive. You might want to look in your local paper and see if someone is selling a used one, or to see if the dept stores might have them on sale.

About $150 for a decent one
Answer number 1 has a clue. Walmart prices are pretty stable; the manuf. will warantee the product, for as long as most others; and for under $100 they sell a 5000 BTU unit; certainly good for a single room.
we just bought two of them at Circuit City for 89 dollars each. Pick up the telephone and call around and ask.
you need to figure out how many square feet you are wanting to keep cooled if its like a bedroom thats 15 ft by 15 ft square a 5 to 6,000 btu is the best for that application and pawn shops sell those for like 60$ now if its a living room dining room area then you would need a 17,000 btu and that can run you 2 to 300$$
i saw in the ads today a 5000 btu unit for 90 bucks
you can buy a cheap air conditioner but if it isnt big enough for the area your cooling it will run constantly and not cool adequately plus your electric bill will be huge. Research it a little and find out what size you will need and save money in the long run I dont know about you but high electric bills make me sick on the first of the month
