I use a small steam machine. It really works great with out cleaning products and doesn't strip out any grout. Once you get it clean I would recommend that you seal it with a grout sealer from Lowe's or which ever home improvement store you have in your area to help keep it clean and protect from staining again.

not sure what will clean grout, but when we had our kitchen floor tiled, we put a grout sealant on grout so we wouldn't have to worry about it getting stained. It looks good after one year.
Certainly there are brand name cleaners that will have some effect along with you expending some effort in the cleaning process.
I've installed thousands of sq. ft. of tile and gallons of grout and I often use a solution of muriatic acid and water. Obvious care must be exercised. I've also tried Hydrogen Peroxied in combination with cleaners.
With no offense at all, part of the issue is maintaining a clean floor or wall to begin with, and as one answer states, and many do; sealing the grout can help, but still needs maintenance and re applications on some basis. Using darker colors for floors will aid in the situation, but I also find that cleaning agents and even chemicals in water can stain grout, pretty much causing a whiteish looking effect. That's often the case in a kitchen or bathroom, where water on the floor may happen more often than in other rooms.
There is no real miracle, as grout has a certain level of being porous, so "elbow grease" along with a cleaner of choice and brushes of choice will have to be the way, initially.

Try the toothpaste with whitener in it and a stiff tooth brush.Use circular motion as you go over the grout. Rinse with cold water and dry.This worked well for me on light colored grout on bath room wall tile.I don't know if this will work on dark grout. Good Luck
use bicarbonate of soda (from the baking isle in any store) and pack it into the grout...then leave 4 10-15 minutes. then spray a light mist ova using white vinegar put into an empty bottle , such as a clean empy ajax bottle. then it will start 2 foam..like volvaoes u made at school.then u can scrub it with an old toothbrush:)
