How do you paint images or a mural on the side of a car and make it last?

Question:special gloss needed on the side of the car before painting?
what kind of paint do you use?

Answers:
Not before painting, unless there is some damage or repair already, but at the very least, no wax, etc.
Automotive paints, best done (If you're able) with an airbrush, not a paint brush, then clear coat over.
A buddy of mine and I did a 65 Mustang, in the scoops, and the image is still looking good. 20 years later.
