Does smartply t+g flooring go down writing side up ?

Question:

Answers:
Usually subfloor materials are laid down with the mill stamp on the bottom. This is done so that the building inscpector can look up from the space below to make sure you are using the correct product. Also if the product has problems (warrenty issues) the stamp can be seen from the basement or in the attic space. If the stamp is up on subfloors it usually gets worn off from wear and tear during construction. And if is on the roof is would get covered by the roofing.

Om most plywood /chipboard T&G products the groove is not symmetrical top & bottom.
On the 'top' side it is broader and lies snug against the next board. On the bottom side there is a small gap in the surface.

Try fitting two boards together and see if this is the case in your product
There is usually a rough side and a smooth side.
Rough side up.
The mill stamp will often say which way to install it.
Generally the writing goes down but mills make mistakes sometimes and stamp the wrong side.
Writing sides are always for the floors and backs of walls to see when you're talking finished products. ie: writing, face down
