The rubber sealant around my bath has gone all mouldy?
Question:How do i get the sealant off to replace, is their a chemical i use or do i have to cut it off?
Answers:
You can try using this stuff....
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.
...but i find it easier to use a good Stanley blade or similar...
..also, when buying replacement sealant, be sure to buy Sanitary sealent as this minimises mould growth.
Ensure the area to be sealed is totally dry and clean or the sealant will not adhere to surfaces. Fill bath approx half full before applying sealant to compensate for movement of the bath during use,(if seal is applied to an empty bath and allowed to cure, when the bath is used for the first time, the weight of water plus body will seperate bath from seal). Allow sealant to cure according to manufacturers recommendations, then empty bath...good luck...
Get a craft knife to start if off and then just peal it off.
Use a sharp razor blade.
Remove the old with a sharp knife or scraper then re-seal with a sanitary selant with an anti mould addative. You will get this this at all good DIY stores.
YOU NEED TO USE A SILICONE WITH FUNGICIDE IN IT.
You can use a knife to start the removal, then it should just pull off. The use a water proof caulking to reseal.
Cut it out with a sharp Stanley knife.
A razor-blade scraper is usually used. It's the quickest and best method. You can probably remove a good chunk of it with a flat screw-driver for starters if it's easier, just be careful not to scratch the enamel too much (walls as well).
stanley knife is your option then replace with anti mould silicone
