Moving central AC thermostat.?
Question:I think I made a mistake... I move the thermostat last night in my home and now I have no AC. This is an electric system. I called the AC company and they said "we'll try to get someone out"... but also asked me if I cut the power to the furnace before moving the thermostat. whoops, I thought pulling the battery pack was sufficient enough. The didn't give me a remedy but made it sound like it's something simple to fix.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to do, or reset? I'd like to save the after-hours holiday service call if it's a simply as flipping a switch or something...
Thanks.

Its possibe you blew the low voltage transformer, or if you are real lucky: the little fuse placed in some models( not many) by pulling the 24 volt/ 18 volt system with the power on you may have caused yourself a minor; but repairable problem. You can't operate system without this.
could be a fuse but the compressor making noise is usually an expensive sign
question? Did you splice in more wire when you moved the thermostat? If so did you use adequate gauge of wire?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Two things come to mind.
#1. You could have blown a low volage fuse at the furnace because you did not disconnect the power.
#2. Based on what you said about the outdoor unit trying to start and "sounding funny"you could havwe also tripped a breaker.
Turn breakers off then back on for both
the air handler (furnnace) & the outdoor A/C
Check the furnace for a blown low voltage fuse.
This all depends on system age and wire method, but its a good place to start.
