How can I get double stick tape from the back of a mirror without ruining the front?
Question:
Answers:
Use mineral oil, if that doesnt work try alcohol or nail polish remover
soak it with a sponge of warm soapy water leave it on top for 20 minutes then it should come off easily.
Use lighter fluid (Ronsonol) on a cotton ball and daub the tape with that. The fluid melts the adhesive and evaporates quickly. Do this in a well ventilated area, of course. This also works for removing labels stuck in a printer.
You can buy some stuff called "Goo Be Gone", it works.
the go-be-gone is a good bet but if that dose not work try goof-off it is a little stinky but it works well
If the mirror is still on the wall or mounting surface, then use a piece of dental floss behind the mirror to sever the connection. All other answers are great once the mirror is down.
Using something like a mineral oil or olive oil will work. Apply a small amount then with your finger distribute the oil, let it soak for 30 seconds or so. Then gently rub. You may have to start a small corner to get the oil to soak in under the tape, but this should work. Most anything that has that stickiness to it can be taken care of with oil. A household oil. Not motor oil. After letting is sit for a bit, just rub and then clean the mirror. Be patient, this can sometimes take more than just one application. But it generally works. Good luck
Spray the tape with window cleaner and then gently scrape with a razor scraper.
I'd try using 'Finger Nail Polish Remover' or " Kerosene / Gasoline."
Also, don't forget about 'LIME Juice," because that has an active acid in it - strong enough to cook fish if left soaking in it for 30 minutes or so.

I recommend leaving it on. Any solvents or scraping could ruin it. I recommend putting duct over the double side to render it useless.
