Where can I purchase polyethylene sheeting? Under which brand name is it sold?
Question:Polyethylene sheeting is used a vapor barrier for many household projects. I also believe that some plastic drop cloths are made of polyethylene? I went to Lowe's today to find some but neither the folks in the paint section nor the building supplies area knew what I was talking about. While Lowe's list this a supply on the DIY section of their web site for some projects (e.g. for installing insulation) they don't carry a product that is identified as "polyethylene sheeting". Any help finding a brand name under which this product is sold would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lowe's didn't cary poly?Somebody wanted to go on break-try going back and ask them for a roll of 4 mill poly-when they point out the vast selection of poly you can make your choice of thickness(mils),width and length of the roll you need based on what you will be using it for
BRAND NAMES -----CARLISLE
POLY-AMERICA
SUNBELT
All of these were found on the lowes website under insulation material-one of its uses is to provide a vapor barrier
Almost any home improvement store or lumber yard will carry this. At Home Depot it's by the paint and cleanup stuff. In this same section you'll find paint drop cloths, 5 gal. buckets, Latex gloves, etc.
Polyethylene sheeting is simply a roll of plastic sheeting similar to a garbage bag. It comes in rolls and can be a number of thicknesses (4 mil, being very thin, to around 6 mil which is more expensive). I am not sure that it should be used as a vapor barrior or how you would use this a vapor barrior for your household projects. Your best bet would be to call a plastic bag manufacturer in your area.
