If particle board and felt get wet while rebuilding roof does it matter?
Question:My husband is rebuilding our workshop roof. It is flat, no pitch. He's only replacing the particle boards that are damaged and refelting and placing rolled roofing on it. It leaks now. He only is to the felt. Will it stop leaking once the cement and rolled roofing is in place? The particle board and felt have had 5-10 inches of rain on it since he started this project.

I'd have to see it but my feeling is that it's gone. Some particle board (and i'll presume that your talking about OSB here) has a v e r y thin wax like coating on it to keep it from getting water damaged while it's being installed but, that's all it's for. One good soaking and most OSB turns to mush. It's structural integrity is gone and it won't even hold a nail. Obversely, if your husband got that roofing felt down good and, it's a heavy enough grade.AND it doesn't look all wrinkled up, the osb is probably perfectly OK. I wouldn't use rolls of asphalt tho- It just won't last on a flat roof. Probably not even a year. Torch down "rubber', metal or "built up" are far better on flat roofs. I hope this helps as much as i hope your husband doesn't smack me for sayin this.
it will matter the next time you have a big rain because of the weakness from the first rain.
particle board has less of a tendency to warp then regular wood does. I personally wouldn't be putting wet board up and then cement and roofing over it. By doing that you seal in the moisture in the board and you could easily get mold in the wood later
If it is really particle board, it is already ruined. If it is osb (oriented strand board),you will probably be okay. It needs to be really dry before you glue. Good Luck
its will be fine theres no need to worry=)
