Is there anyone who knows about window unit AC repair?
Question:I have a Frigidaire (Electrolux) Air conditioner window unit. I dont have any money to have a repairman come look at it. It keeps freezeing up on me and every site I go to to see if I can find out what the problem is they all say to change or wash the filter. I cant find a filter to change or wash..I wiped down the coils and the front(the metal bars..?) but it just froze up again. Does anyone know what kind of filter this model has and can they tell me how to clean it? Model # FAL124M1A1. I would really apriciate it.
Answers:
Air conditioner filters are usually found right under the grille on the inside half of the unit. Often, they are held in place by spring snaps. If, looking through the grille with a flashlight, you see something that looks like foam of some kind, that's it. It may be wise to simply remove it altogether.
is it the grille thats freezing?
if so, it lacks pressure on freon.
look for qualified technicians to add freon on your unit
Sometimes with those it cheaper to toss it and by a new then to have an old one fixed. You prob need to have someone test the freon level, and see if it's leaking
Make sure the "metal bars" are not mashed down flat,if so,this will make it freeze.Take a fine brush and clean the coils and flush them with water.does the unit over cool? This will make it freeze also. There's alot of reasons for it to freeze but the easy cure is to clean the coils"metal bars"
you may be low on freon, only a A/C tech can do that
