I have to take out a window, cut an opening and installl a patio door. How much should I charge?

I will avoid your direct question and offer some thoughts:
1 Be aware that electrical power may be beneath the existing window and you may have to relocate it.
2 If you are making the opening wider you will have to install a new header.
3 What is the exterior finish? Stucco takes much more time and effort to finish off than does wood siding.
4 What is the floor material? If it is concrete you may have to remove an anchor bolt. Aluminum thresholds can not sit directly on concrete or they will disintergrate. You will need to use building felt or something similar to isolate the aluminum. Also, fastening the sill to the concrete will be more difficult than to wood.
5 Will the door be exposed to the weather, or will it be under a patio roof? If exposed to the weather you will need to install flashing above the sliding door to prevent water getting behing your exterior door casing.

I would charge $30.00 per hour. Do the homeowner a favor and install a new header, do the framing correctly.
I saw a similar Q a few months ago. With no offense meant at all do you have the skills to accomplish that?
I agree with both the first two answers. In my world it depends on the task, the customer, and their budget.
I charge anywhere from $25 per hour to $50, and certainly the customer expects a reasonable time frame.
If you have the skills, can you determine how long the job might take versus what you think you're worth? A simple single door could cost a customer $75 just to hang. You should add a lintel, or at least a double ledger, and double the verticles on either side of the new door as well.

You don't bother to mention wood or brick. Single door, french doors or sliding door. I charge $35/hr or $350/day and could do a wood project in a single trip. Brick structure would take 3 trips over a 3 day period for tear out, cut-in, lay new brick frame and trim work.
I charge $65 an hour + material. This job probably is in the 2-4 hrs range.
Sawzaw the window out. make the opening...add a new header...get ya double cripple in there and pop the door in...trim it out...4 hours x $65.an hour $ 260.00 dollars is a very fair price to change out a window and install a patio door.

3years ago I ordered a Pella 6ft. french slider from Pella and asked,"How much to install"?.Damn near took a heart attack..$1,000.00.Needless to say it cost me about 40.00 and help from a neighbor to lift it,but taking out a window and making the opening for it took about 3 hours.It is a great slider that I paid 1200.00 for but I wasn't going for another thou.for installation.So I guess the question is ,"what would you be willing to pay to have it done"?..Then charged it.
