Removing epoxy from plastic?
Question:We had a leak in the tub, and there was a little ding init, so we thought that's where the tub was leaking, so my husband put epoxy on it. The leak was still there, so he applied MORE epoxy, and so on and so forth for a few times, until we discovered that it was just the seal around the drain, replaced that, and no more leaking downstairs!! We are getting ready to move and we have this huge epoxy blob in the tub. I know it will turn people off (it would me), even though there is no actual leak where it is. I got some spray gel paint/epoxy remover, but the can says it's not for plastic. HELP!! Anybody know of ANYTHING that can at least help to remove maybe some of it, if not all, without ruining the tub? Thank you, thank you!

I hate to tell you this but you probably might want to call a company who refinishes tubs. The problem you have is that the epoxy is more solvent resistant by far than the plastic/acrylic. As someone said earlier, you could sand down the epoxy in order to get it flush with the surface of the tub, but you are still left with the patched area visually standing out from the surrounding area. For the time and trouble that you would spend getting it to look presentable without guaranteed results, I would consider letting someone else, with the experience and means to make it look new again do it. I have removed and replaced a tub and it is a major job. I had a shower stall resurfaced about 15 yrs ago and it still looks very good.
If the epoxy has stuck firm the only thing you can do is buy a new tub and replace the damaged one. However, you can grind it off if you can get to it without causing more damage but it will still show.
Try scraping it with a razor scraper.
