How to use mastic?

Question:

Answers:
Not sure exactly what your question is asking but,. most people use mastic.tubes the wrong way when they apply them to surfaces for finishing/sealing. The nozzle should be cut to deliver a suitable sized bead of mastic/sealant. Angled slightly backwards when applying the nozzle should then be pushed forwards, the trailing edge of the nozzle giving a uniform smooth finish. This also presses the sealant against the surfaces it's going onto. If the nozzle is drawn backwards, as the trigger is squeezed it leaves an uneven trail of sealant behind and the material is not pressed in and is usually loosely attached at best. It isn't easy to do, but it IS the way it's supposed to be done. If of course you're not asking about mastic in a tube,... forget everything I've said, :-)

If you want to use it to seal your ductwork just spread it on and let it dry..if you want to use it as a barrier you need to put some type of backing on first
Mastic comes in various forms so it would be useful to know what do you require it for? If it is simply to fill gaps around window and door frames, buy a mastic gun with replaceable cartridges with coloured mastic of your choice from your local Diy shop and follow easy instructions.
