Making the perfect candle?
Question:For my chemistry project I need to make the perfect candle; basically, i'm being graded on several factors: It has to burn for a long time, it should have a shape that prevents it from dripping, it should smell nice, have a good appearance, and also give off a good amount of light. Any tips on making such a candle? Remember, it has to burn long while giving off a good amount of light also.
Answers:
Soy candles burn well and don't give off any smoke like wax candles. They burn clean and have a nice fragrance.
There are conditioners that you need to add to the wax that make them burn longer and cleaner (brighter). Also there are many strong essential oils that can make a super strong smelling candle like (yankee candles). Bust most importantly the conditioners you add to the wax will make burning time much longer!
Also, Hobby Lobby has a really easy candle maker that makes flawless candles, and it's about $30.
I also recommend soy candles - they burn at a cooler temperature than paraffin which allows them to last up to 65% longer and they give off a beatiful light visit www.naturalsoycandles.com.au to see examples
candlelyte is a great supply company if you need materials to get started (US, AU & NZ) and there is a link from this site (Useful links page) to there, just select your country
