Flooring experts needed..?
Question:I can't lay my EASY TO INSTALL wood floors because the sub flooring is uneven. Is there something easy to level it off or can I nail in the planks I bought. UGH!!
Answers:
go to your local lowes or home depot or tile supply warehouse and get yourself a bag or 2 of self leveler. its fairly inexpensive and easy to mix and apply.
If your sub floor is wood any leveler you try to smear over it will move when you walk on it and you will feel the sunken places.
I would level it as best you can, put down a layer of roofing felt and put down an underlayment of plywood.
If it is concrete I would Still do the above as the plywood will be easier to nail the planks into.
Good Luck with it!

What type of wood floors do you have?? it matters.
how uneven is your sub floor??
2 suggestions for you
1) Emboss leveler.. can buy in a bag 25 lb (Ardex) is the brand you want, and mix. You get more this way at a cheaper price. Or you can buy 1 gal. / 5 gal. premixed buckets. Pour and it will self level. The downside is if your floor is way off level you are basically pouring a thin layer of concrete on your floor and when you nail down the wood it will shatter the leveler.
2) 1/2" sheet of plywood stagger the joint opposite your sub floor joints and it will (hide) the off level of the sub floor. the wood will conform to the new plywood.
If it is just the joints in the sub floor were they but up against each other you can use a belt sander and sand the joints to knock them down and that will suffice... Good luck
the floor leveler answer in my op is the correct answer, however, um, it's not all that easy to use in my op. but i have only tried it a time or two. gl with it!
