Question:every night i wake up and occasionally this happens
Answers:
12 GAUGE SHOTGUN WITH 00 BUCKSHOT!!
weigh it down with rocks and stuff in the bottom
try putting you grabage can some where he cant get, try a lock on the top to secure it so there is no mess if you cant change the location, or buy a new garbage can with a lock lid
Probably the animal is smelling food inside the garbage can. Make sure to tie up any bags with food in them, and get a garbage can with a latching lid so less smells get out and so it won't spill if it does get knocked over.
Go to your local Pet smart or even Walmart they make a type of pepper spray to put on your plants to keep animals out of your shrubs and flowers. Spray that on your garbage can and that will keep them from getting into it . It worked for me and does not harm the animal.
build a frame about 3 ft tall and the length of your cans and attach to your house or garage make it so you can remove the front or put on hinges so it opens to get the cans out easy.
some home depots sell iron frames that hold cans and they are on wheels to roll to the street on trash day.
Besides shooting the little fur-ball? Look for tracks and try to identify what animal it is. If it is a dog call the animal shelter and report it. Any animal which tips the garbage over is looking for food. Wild animals you can run off by dousing your garbage can with urine(pee in a jar and splash it)it sounds gross, but wild animals will steer clear of people most of the time. You can also rig a motion detector and an alarm system to light up the area and broadcast noise so when an animal comes around it will get a surprise. Last resort, you can wait up and shoot it with a paint gun. It won't kill it(normally, but will sting like heck), or try using one of those supersoaker water guns. Animals aren't near as stupid as animal rights varmints.
I took an empty windex spray bottle filled it with bleach..everytime I add another bag to the barrell I give a couple of shot from the windex bottle .with food waste and all in there my trash hasn't been disturbed in twenty years uncovered and left outside I see everybody else picking up after the racoons and dogs but not me
Drive two sturdy stakes into the ground, one on each side of the trash can and tie the trash can to the stakes. Also, use a strong bungee cord or something similar across the top of the trash can. If they can't knock it over, they may just try to get the top off.
ive had this happen twice with racoons what i did was put some peanut butter on a balloon and tied it down so it couldn't blow away ,once the coon bit the baloon it scared the crap out of him and they never came back.
Shotgun.
we had the problem once with cats we up the lid on top of the can and used a bungie cord the one handle on the can to the other that way the lid will not come off so they cant get into the and if they cant get in they should not fall over
