Can a shower screen be fitted to a wall with a windowsill?

Question:The wall next to our bath has a long narrow window of approx 30cm high, and then wall above it. The window is approx shoulder height when stood in the shower. Does a shower screen need to be fitted to a complete wall? I would like a shower screen as our bathroom is tiny and I'm fed up with mouldy shower curtains that make the room look even smaller. Not sure it is possible because of the gap.

Answers:
it obviously needs to be screwed to a wall however if a plastic shower curtain dose not let water onto the windowsill a heavy glass one certainly won't
Best of luck john

Hi - I'm assuming a short (top) section of the screen will overlap the opening where the window is, yes?
If so - screens usually have a 'U' shaped profile that fits to the wall first and then the screen itself fits to the profile. If this is the case, drill some extra fixings holes in the back of the profile where it screws to the wall. Drill the highest hole a couple of inches down from the window sill. It doesn't matter how many holes you drill in the profile to fix it back to the wall, these are covered when the screen is fitted.
When you are sure the profile is firmly fixed apply a dab of silicone over the screw heads, this will stop any chance of water getting past the screws.
When the screen is finally fitted to your satisfaction, apply a bead of silicone sealant in the angle between the profile and the wall/tiles, this will prevent water from getting behind the profile and also give you a tidier finish.
Screw a batten upright from the bath to the height of the panel (timber choice yours) so it spans the gap across the window then paint or varnish. You then can screw your panel to the batten, job done.
