We have brought and installed a light and fan combi on the ceilling in our bedroom?
Question:after instalation we find we can only turn the light on from the unit no longer from the wall which is awful when it is dark trying to get into the room in the dark to turn it on along with 3 cats trying to get in :)
would it be that we have wired it up wrong because other than that it is working perfectly many thanks have a good sunday

when there's a lite attachment, you will have an extra wire. You either did not add the wire (possibly blue) in the beginning of the nutting or at the installation of the lite can there is a clip that snaps into each other and that may be it...you could get lucky and have just forgot it at the end of your installation.
additionally, if you have lite & power at the lite your switch should work. If not you have it wired wrong. the power comes from the swithch on the wall, and that will shut off the fan & lite. If the lite and fan works with the switch, shut the fan off at the fan and swithch the power at the wall.
re-read your instructions and you will find the items I'm speaking of and an illustration.
If you followed the instructions you would have noticed in order for your light to work independantly of the fan you will need two switches on the wall. Sorry thats the way they work. Otherwise have a electrician install another wire to the fan.
In a house that I recently worked; the wiring was as follows.
Black: Fan The wire was always hot
Red: Light. It was switched from the wall.

You should be able to just switch the wires around up in fan to make the switch control the light instead of the fan, because it sounds like you have a constent feed and a switched feed in the box, eithier you have just black and white wires or you have a black, red and white wire if you have the blk, red,and white to could switch them seperatly by changing the switch to a combo switch ( which is 2 switches in one unit) if you have just black and white wires you can only switch one thing
