How can I get a shiny (glossy) spot out of my table?

Question:I have a wooden dining room table that has a matte (not glossy) finish. I had a white spot on the table (from heat) and used this pretreated cloth I got at Home Depot that gets those white spots out - however it made that area glossy!

How can I get that glossy spot out of my table? Thanks!

Answers:
Yeap the man is right. Use 00 steelwool. take your time and lite circular motion. That will do it.

A real fine steel wool should do the trick. You can also use 600 grit sand paper.
