The cost of building your own privacy fence?
Question:My husband won't let me get a dog until we can have a fence built around my yard. It's not huge by any means, I'd say medium sized (I'm horrible at judging these sort of things). What do you think the cost would be of building it, or having it built. Of course I would measure before starting the project.
Answers:
What "we" did was use metal poles (they last longer, are stronger and are cheaper to put in) and then put wood crossbeams with the privacy planks on the other side. It is very strong because a week after we put the fence in there was a strong wind storm which knocked out power for quite some time and felled numerous big old evergreen trees.
We made a 210 feet privacy fence for about $1,800. Of course, my husband did all of the fence on his own.
My friend does privacy fences on the side, and he charges 10-12 dollars a foot material and labor included.
Depending on where you live a six foot high wooden privacy fence with metal posts supporting it would cost between $20 and $25 per foot. This would include the labor and one gate.
