How to wire a standard light plug and switch?

If, there is already an existing Light and Switch. Turn off the electricity and install as you see on the old. May want a Flashlight handy if the area is dark.
If, you talking of running a new wire, you may want to call someone more experienced.

is there a wires there already? if so just turn off power and unscrew them not hard you can really change them out without turning them off if youve done it a few times is easy . but if you have to run wires the id call someone who knows are you just changing out a plug and switch? two screws holding the cover take off two screws holding the switch or plug into the wall remover pull outlet or switch out of wall and with power off remember unscreww two wires one black and one white some time they are push on or push in wire holding if so i just cut them and push them back into new one you can do it its not hard just make you you turn off the power small screwdrive and a pair of wirepiars
To wire a standard plug that is switched just run the power (romex) wires through the switch box leaving some extra wire at that box and down to your plug.
The plug wire normally with the hot (usually black) the common (usually white) and the ground (usually bare copper).
In the switch box install your switch by cutting the hot (usually black) and connecting each end to your switch.
Finally connect your circuit to a 20 amp breaker at the panel. Make sure the breaker and the switch is in the off position. Turn on the breaker first. Plug something in to your outlet and then turn on the switch.
