Is it possible to install a new electric shower in place of an old one without professional help?
Question:The old shower is broken due to limescale and I want to replace it with a similar model but don't want to have to pay an electrician to install it.

electric and water don't mix if you get it wrong it could cost more than money get an expert in
it is possible, but firstly check there is a seperate fuse that controls your supply (normally a pull cord or switch)

If you're a hands-on type, you should have no problems tackling a new shower.

It's a bit of a risk because you are working with water and electricity. Have someone nearby and make sure they know not to touch you if you are shocked to unconsciousness; it may be necessary to cut the electric supply at the fuse box and call an ambulance. The operator will advise him/her how best to take care of you.
Of course if you pay close attention to the instructions and you use some common sense an ambulance won't be necessary, but be prepared.
Depends on your electrical knowledge and qualifications.You can do it but you must,under the current regulations,get it certified as being safe by a qualified tradesman.You will have to pay for this cert. but not as much as if they had done the whole job for you. If you are not sure,pay out and get it done properly.
