How to install a bow window?

Question:

Answers:
You will need to have two people to install the new one but first you will have to remove the old window. First remove the trim on the inside of the house. You should be able to see the screws or nials that are holding it into the studs of the wall. You now need to remove the glas from the old window so it doesn't break and cut you. Then remove the nails that are holding it to the wall studs and push or pry the window out and let it fall to the ground. Clean all the old caulking off the studs around the frame. Measure the height and width of the opening your new window should be 1/4 to 1/2" smaller in size both directions. You will need some wood shim so you can space the window in the stud opening evenly all around the frame. Make sure you have someone holding the window or it is braced up from the outside as it will be front heavy. Once you have the window frame squared up and plum drive a screw thru the frame and into the studs at least an 1" deep on all four sides then check the square again. If youare sure its square check the windows to see if they open smoothly. If they are working correctly add at least3 screws per side and top and bottom. Use a spray foam insulation and spray it into the gap between the window frame and the studs. You will then need to go outside and using a good sealing cualking go around the outside of the window. You will need to frame up under the window as well to slope it back into the wall. If this seems to hard for you you might want to have a pro do it for you, but hell give it a try.

You eat it and shove it up your ***.
if you dont know you should get a pro there is also cable thats is on the frame that needs to be properly tightened so window does not sag over time; and screw like the guy anbopve has stated then youll need to box out the top of the window to close off depending on the overhang or if there is any do you live in new jerse y?a reasonable price to have this done is 500 on the cheap end and 800 an the higher; some can get as much as 1200 dollars to put this window in. i would charge like 750 dollars depending on how busy i was ; if i was lacking work ide do it no less then four hundred
Assuming you know the basics of installing a standard window and are wondering how you support the weight of the bow as it extends outside the wall, try this.

Since it needs a roof above, use threaded rod placed through the spaces created as the windows"bend" around to create the bow. Attach them to a solidly installed framing member installed at the top for the purpose of supporting the window. A nut and washer on the bottom, you can then turn the nut on or off to get final adjustment.
In this case I gotta say, If ya hafta ask, ya need a pro!!!
There`s just too many ways you can screw up one of these units if you have`nt a clue what you`re doing, especially if the unit is`nt factory mulled. Which may or maynot be the case here. But who`s to say, we have so much info to work with here!
