Question about Junk Brothers TV show, clear rock countertop?
Question:I watched an episode of Junk Brothers a few months ago. It was episode HJUNK-108. They took an old banquette credenza and made it into a zen-inspired bathroom vanity. It was on HGTV and i tried to check out this episode online. I am trying to find out what they used for making the counter top. They put river rocks in the top and then poured a clear substance over it and when dried it was clear and all you could see was the rocks. Does anyone know what they used to make this?
Answers:
hi
they used polymer coating
it's 2 part step
one is rosin the other hardener
the more the temp is damp or humid the harder it cures
check the big lumber store they carry that stuff
I didn't see this episode, but I'd bet that they used clear polyester resin. I've seen that done before.
Im not an expert but I would think it might be clear urethane.they pour over the stones or as they call it liquid plastic.I have been thinking of doing it myself.I would suggest doing it in layers thou giveing it a day to cure, before doing another layer.Good luck
