Have any ideas on building an inground fire-pit? I want it to look nice.?

I have built a few fire pits. The problem with an in ground fire pit is that it fills up with rainwater leaving a soggy mess on the bottom. If at all possible install a drain at the bottom to rid this problem. Currently one of my back yard fire pits is 2 feet deep and flush with the ground. I used a 36in round piece of concrete drain tile 2ft long. If you scrounge around lumberyards or ask contractors they usually have small pieces they would never use. Before we installed it I ran a 3in corrugated drain line from the pit to the ditch about 30ft away. I dug the hole and ditch 2ft deep and sloped the line tword the ditch. It help that the land sloped naturally away. I buried the concrete ring flush to the ground and then installed old brick pavers around the pit to attach it to my existing patio. I welded up a grate that fits in the bottom to let air under the fire. I use a hook to remove it when I clean out the pit. You could use a metal drain tile too. The heat did warp the plastic a bit so next time I'll use a short piece of metal pipe or clay tiles directly under the fire pit and connect it in down the line. You could also use flag stone instead of brick, or pour a concrete pad around it.
i put rocks from a local farmer around the edges of mine, looks nice
I would get a 55 gal drum and cut it in half..then put that in the ground and put pavers around it. and monkey grass around the pavers..
