Washer over fills. What's wrong?
Question:I recently replaced the motor coupling by laying washer on its back. Could that have gotten water in the water level switch or valve and ruined it?

There is either a float that rises with tub water level or an air-filled tube that increase the pressure on a switch diaphragm with increasing tub water level. The float may be jammed or the area its slides on may be bent. The air tube for the air-operated switch may be disconnected or leaking. Either way it is not a tough part to fix or replace.
Definately a hung up float switch, I agree with the other guys that said that too!!
I doubt it's the pressure switch. Only whirlpool/kenmore have a coupling. You have pulled the the pressure tube off the bottom of the tub or more likely off the pressure switch itself. If it's a kenmore remove the two screws from each end of the console. If you don't see the screws, remove the plastic end caps. screws are are on the front side. Remove the screws and flip the console back to access the tube and w/l switch. If it is a whirlpool, the screws are on the back side of the console. If the tube is in place, make sure it isn't pinched between the cabinet and the back panel. (The switch is too high to have been damaged by laying the washer over).
