Is there a paint that can tolerate extreme cold and hot weather?
Question:My friend is in Mongolia managing a Temple and they need a paint that can stand the extreme cold there and maybe hot weather too. I am not sure if the temperature changes, but that is what she asked about.

try looking into Sikkens brand of stains and paints, cost is high but most likely best on the market today.
What is she painting, inside, outside? wood, concrete? I'm no paint expert but unfourtunatly I've done alot of painting. I would think an expoxy based paint is the toughest. Then there is always stain. That would take the extreme expansion and contraction of materials better then a paint. Might be alot of us outh here that would like to know if there reallly is an extreme paint like that.
hello there, i'm a painter and i used to run a paint department... exterior paint is designed to withstand freezing temperatures and then bounce back to extreme summer conditions. and of course the better the paint, the longer it will last. my favorite is benjamin moore, but i'm not sure what will be available in mongolia. price is usually a good indicator of quality. someone mentioned sikkens, a very good brand, but i don't believe that they have much in the line of paint, mostly stain.

Olympic makes a paint/stain that resists fading from UVB/UVA rays, heat and cold. Lowes carries it and it comes in a lot of colors. Consumer Reports recently rated it as one of the best for extreme conditions.
