Could anyone explain the difference between slotted and unslotted waste for my basin. Tx?

Question:also are the tilt ones better than pop up?

Answers:
the slotted with a pop up is a dream come true

ok. a sloted waste is for a basin that has an overflow moulded into it. an unslotted waste is for one that has not.
If there is a hole near the top of your basin, it is an overflow. The water enters and is channeled down the inside of the basin and the slotted waste allows it to enter the drain line. If you stick your finger just below the drain flange in the basin, you will feel the opening. Some new basins are being produced with no overflow so do not need the slotted waste. I prefer the pop-up wastes because you can remove the stopper if necessary and see anything that may be blocking the pipe.
A slotted waste fitting has a slot cut out of it for the overflow water to run out throught th Sink or basin trap. These are fitted when an overflow is needed. An unslotted waste fitting is usually fitted in shower trays which has no overflow.
