There is a product on the market called lectra-clean. It comes in a can kind of like WD-40. Spray that on to clean it up soils that you may have gotten on it. As far as being proactive about protecting the microfiber...the scotch guarding doesnt really do much because microfiber is a polyester that is tightly woven and any pre-treatments you try to use will not get into the fabric. You can get lectra-clean at any lowes or home depot. It is a electrical parts cleaner.
