How do I get more power from my Craftsman 25cc weedwhacker engine?
Question:I took the engine off of the arm, so now it's just an engine. I have alot of free time, so I just want to squeeze the horsepower from this engine. Also, I would like to mabe mount this to somthing. Mabe a mountain bike or a skateboard. Also, is it wise to use nitro gas ( the same kind they use in nirtro rc cars) in this engine? Will that make more power? Thanks for any help you can provide.

sounds interesting and I would like to hear the results of this project. Im sure if you take off the muffler that would add some power. A good Tune up would help bring back the original power that has already been lost. Im guessing its got some years on it since your taking it apart. I would give the air filter a good cleaning, The spark plug too. If you can rebuild the engine then replacing all of the seals will help a good bit. If you cant get ahold of the right seals they sell some stuff in a tube that you can use instead, I would recomend doing that. The carburator is a very big part of the horse power, if you can figure out how to take it apart and clean everything properly and put it all back together I would do that too. There should also be some screws on the carb to twist around and alow for more air fuel combo, turn those up. I dont think you will be able to get as much power out of this thing as you are looking for but you should be able to have some fun with it. Since you are trying to get this to power something with wheels on it, and Im assuming you as well. Then Gears are the big thing here, The gears will determine your acceleration and top speed. If you can get ahold of another weed whacker engine then I would put two engines on whatever you mount this too. Have fun and let me know how it goes, IM me at

unfortunately it is a 2 stroke which uses reed valves to move the gas and exhaust, there is nothing you can to,
except put octane booster into the gas/oil mix
actually what you can do is cut the head .10 and then lean it out some with high speed jet...but she will never last...it's peaking right now, but would be fun to play with it till she blew up...gl
