How do you patch wallpaper?
Question:I have a spot that started as a tear. Then my toddler peeled and picked at it. I used a razor blade to cut a neat rectangle and I have the paper to patch it. But part of the paper backing was left behind. How do I remove the part that is stuck to the wall? If I wet it, won't it ruin the good paper around it?

Usually the wallpaper gets wet in the glueing process. You dip it in water to soften the glue. So I would wet the backing that was left behind in order to remove it. Scrape it with a putty knife to remove the pieces. Put the new piece in slowly and carefully. I like to trim a patch like this first, but you can also trim after if you use extreme care. (I would wait for naptime!)
