Can you paint over laminate?
Question:My bed and desk metal and maple laminate. I want the maple to be black. Can I paint over them without it looking shiny?
Answers:
clean and sand with sand paper.
then wipe down with liquid sand paper.
then KILZ.
then FLAT paint.
Use primer first, then paint it.
Yes, but you have to sand it a little so it will adhere. There are some new paints out now that are made to paint over plastic. Laminate is a plastic. I think they are made by Krylon (I've seen it on TV) Shinny, matt or dull finish. Ask at your paint dept or Home store.
Use KILZ and then paint over it. Will look great and not be shiny. Good luck.
Yes, the type of paint you choose to paint over the laminate will determine if it turns out to be shiny. If you choose a high gloss paint then your finish will be shiny. If you choose a flat paint there will be no shine. The finish of the laminate will not come through the paint in any application.
lightly sand off the gloss and use epoxy paint.
It sticks to ANYTHING...but it has a big odor, so open the windows and use a fan
use BIN primer (sticks to anything) then apply color/finish of your choice.I recommend a low lustre rather than flat paint.
