How do I drain all the water from my Worcester Bosch 30si?
Question:I am installing a new trendy radiator in my bathroom, and obviously need to drain all the water out before I disconnect the old one and pipe up this new one.
I haven't had the boiler long, and don't know how to drain the water. If any one has got the same model and knows how to do this, please let me know.
Thanks
Answers:
drain the whole system from the boiler
Find which pipe on your boiler is the cold main . It wil be a 15mm pipeand there should be a valve on the boiler to turn off the cold supply. Then you need to find a drain off point to drain the radiator you are taking out. But before you drain any water, turn all the other rads off at both ends. This is because when you refill the system , you don;t have to refill all the other rads. As you drain out the bathroom rad, open the air vent to make sure all the water drains from it. Then refill the new rad, vent the air from it and check pressure on boiler.
Your gonna need to drain the system, dont be tempted to try and drain the boiler using the pressure relief valve..
1.. turn off the boiler
2.. open the system drain valve usually found around the outside of the house sticking out the wall, even on some downstairs rad valves (attatch hose !!)
3.. check the pressure guage on the boiler and make sure it's dropping
4.. when it's at 0bar open all the vent plugs on the upstairs rads.
5.. do what you got to do with your new rad.
6.. shut all bleed points and drain
7.. refill system to 1.5bar and vent system
8.. top up pressure as required
9.. turn boiler back on and run till quiet.
