Help the temperature dial on my shower is stuck!?

Question:I have a Mira shower (model unknown) with a circular dial to turn water on/off and a similar dial below to control temparature.

The temparature dial will not move. It has a red button on it and by pressing this I can take off the silver coloured outer casing of the dial. The inside is black plastic so I do not really want to use pliers to force it round in case it breaks. I have tried spraying with WD40 but it has not loosened.

There is a screw at the front of the internal black plastic knob but tightening or loosening this does not seem to do anything.

There are 2 screws which attach the silver coloured plate with the two dials to the wall. I do not think taking this off will do any good.

Any ideas anyone? The temperature is stuck at 30 degrees and I'm worried that in the summer I will have a choice of being burnt or smelly!

Before you follow the 'sound' advice of the 28 yr plumber, there is of course something else you can do now. Put MIRA into your search engine . . what you are trying to do is find the actual name of the makers. When you have found it look at their website and from the info send them an Email asking for their help.
If relevant turn off electricity and remove front panel (if possible). There might be two or three grub screws which hold it on. Look inside for small tab to find Model No.
My impression is that what really has happened is that lime or chalk has built up inside somewhere to cause it to malfunction. Now if the system is non electric you may find it more straightforward to use a plumber. He will charge between £50-100. Hopefully, a keen, fanatical DIY-er will have the answer from his own experience.

trying to fix something that you don't how can cost more if you screw it up. call aplumber and tell him whats wrong, and ask him if he has any experience with this type of faucet
I had the same problem with my shower temp button. They are not the same make but I have the red button you press to change the temp-it was stuck solid with lime scale. I had to keep spraying it and if possible leave the control to soak in Viakal ( I thinks that's what it's called) plus use an old toothbrush to scrub in into the control button.
try using lime away to release the stuff caked to it and then try using WD 40 after that.
Let the lime away soak in a pail
Time to call a plumber or buy a new shower unit.
