What is the difference between a wood pallet and a skid?

Question:

Answers:
Skid is a colloquial term for a pallet - they are the same thing.

Many companies use a skid loader with a pallet fork to move the pallets because the skid loader works well in tight quarters. And since the machine using the pallets is a "skid loader", people started saying that the things being moved by the skid loader were "skids".

And pallets can be made from things other than wood these days. Plastic pallets have become very common as well - they don't have to be treated for bugs to be used with international shipments.

They are one and the same.
