Screening Materials?
Question:Where I can buy the material for a screen porch? Lowes has the stuff but it seems very expensive there. I need the framework and roofing. Isnt there some sort of building material store (besides Lowes and HD) in the Jacksonville area that anyone can go to (not a contractor)?
Answers:
Try looking for a Menard's. On average they are cheaper than the other home stores - but some of their items are lower quality also.
Have you looked into a local lumber yard? Sometimes they will give you a better deal than the big stores - not often but sometimes.
Realize that roofing materials are made out of petroleum products - they are going up in price just as gasoline. And other materials are increasing in price due to gas prices and increased demand.
GOOD quality screen is not cheap - that is the stuff that will last. Have you got prices on screen at a glass company - the ones who repair and replace glass like windshields? We just got some Bronze screen cloth (very high quality) in a bulk roll from our local glass company. A place like this can also order the size of screen you need.
I can't help much on places in Jacksonville, but I hope that I did help with some ideas on materials and generic places to get them.

Habitat for humanity often has re-sale stores for left over materials in major cities.
Check into a nearby location.
Check your local Yellow Pages under Lumber.
