I have a web page for home generator connection and use. It should answer your questions...

im pretty sure it has circuit breakers connected.
you just add extension cord and terminate it to the breakers' load side,
just make sure youll have correct size of breakers aNd wires, and necessary loads
These are used for Temporary power only in areas where there is no power.. or in case of a power outage. Usually you start it up and plug into it and go...
They are good on construction sites prior to electrical hookup.
They are handy in extended power outages.. for temporary power.
However, be VERY careful if you use it in a power outage... I would not connect it to house circuits unless you know what you are doing.. Use extension cords only to the areas you need it (refrigerators, etc.) the load in a house is larger than 4KW and could overload the generator or cause a brownout (which shortens appliance life) etc. Plus if you do not disconnect the electrical system from the electrical grid you could cause a serious safety problem for the electrical crews fixing the power.
Also.. it must be ran OUTSIDE.. not inside... the gas motor gives off Carbon Monoxide and other dangerous fumes and could be dangerous if you leave it running inside a building (even a garage)
