What to put in the soil?
Question:I just losend up the dirt in front of my porch, all the weeds are gone. I'd like to plant a few things in there, what do I add to the soil to help keep the plants healthy?
Answers:
You can have one of my ex-b/f's. One is so full of s**T that I'm sure he will provide food for plants for a very long time.
Lime is cheap and works good.
But I would go to Home Depot and buy a soil sample kit for a couple of bucks to test the soil and then you won't be guessing.
Miracle Grow has a variety of excellent products depending on what you wish to plant.
There were available fertilizers in any garden stores, I would recommend the 10-20-10 composition. Nitrogen content 10%, phosphorus content 20%, and potassium 10%. Never worry, they could be bought in bags ... Or you could use earthworm casting if you wanted to. It also works.

Your answer is ORGANIC MATERIAL!
By that I mean leaves, lawn clippings or compost or manure.
You need stuff that will hold the moisture and the nutrients.
I recommend that you go to your garden center and get composted manure (no smell) and peat moss and work it into your soil. The miracle grow products are also good, but do your plants a big favor and put in LOTS of organic material, OK?
