Test a smaller piece of ribbon first. The more presser you use as you drag the ribbon over the straight edge the more curly the ribbon. If you don't want to end up with a spring looking ribbon use much less pressure at first.
Place the ribbon on the edge of a pair of scissors then place your thumb on top of the ribbon and pull the ribbon over the scissors edge with the other hand
