Can anyone really prove anything about god or no god?
Question:My thinking is that neither side has a chance of proving the existance of god or no god. The answer is outside our ability to prove one way or the other. Only fools think otherwise. We are no closer to proving god exists than we were 6000-10,000,000 years ago.
My suggestion is we take the wuestion and put it right out on the table and just watch and see what happen in 6000-10,000,000 years. Then go on with our lives. Go to a higher level. Quit the crap and maybe just maybe we will be rewarded in some way with the answer. If it makes any difference at all.
What do you think about that idea. Please no holy rollers or preachers or scientist that can't see outside themselves need answer.
Answers:
You're absolutely right. We can't. As far as reality goes, everything makes exactly as much sense with or without a conscious creator. The problem is human insecurity. People have a hard time accepting that they don't know, and believe in their false certainty, out of fear. So while your suggestion is a good one, it is also nearly impossible to implement. Trust me, the minds of almost everyone ignorant enough to believe that they know the truth, are also too stubborn to be changed.
"I'm right, everyone else is wrong"
"But everyone believes that. Maybe you're not right."
"No. I'm right. My senses are better than everyone else's."
That's what it comes down to. Stupidity, plain and simple.
That's why those who believe call it faith.
When we die, we'll find out for sure.
no.
Have you ever seen a ghost? Try it, you'll believe then.
No. No one can prove it either way.
that is why we call it faith. because you have to have faith and hope to believe someone is watching over us and taking care of us.
you are right. no one can prove the existence of God either way.
But this is true for lot's of life's difficult questions and people continue to fight over them even though it will always boil down to the fact that people have different opinions about things.
Nothing to prove. You just believe or you don't.
Your internal spiritual side can go either way.
I have faith in God and so I pray for everything
and thank him for everything good that has happened
to me.
Your exactly right. Its a case of belief vs non-belief. And then you have people judging others based on beliefs compared to people calling people who believe in something stupid. According to a lot of answers on Yahoo, both sides are filled with mindless morons that judge everyone different then them as inferior. Believe what you want or not, as long as it doesn't affect me, its cool.
no one can prove any thing at all ' even if god came to that person ' and said i'm god no one's going to belive you if you seen god and talked to him
My theory is there has to be for ths reason. All mankind in all history seek a higher power. No matter where they are isolated or otherwise. ALL mankind has aspired to a " God". Why would this be so if there was none.
you are right!
You make some interesting points. Ultimately, I believe that you CAN prove that God exists, if he exists... but really only to yourself. People have experiences that suggest to them that there is a God. Is it proof? Perhaps. Perhaps not, but the experiences are real, and so to that person it is proof. If it turns out it IS God, then so be it. If not, the bright side for someone that believes in God is that they will never be proven wrong to themselves. When they die, they'll be gone. Ultimately, assuming there is a God, I think you are correct, because unless God is revealed to a person, a person likely will not change their mind. If he does not exist, then there is nothing to prove. You can't prove a non-existent thing that is not concretely defined by its non-existence.
The burden of proof is on those who want to prove that something exists as opposed to not exists. It is virtually impossible to prove that something does not exist.
God, by definition, is unprovable. Of course, some parts of current quantum physics are by definition unprovable as well, so science is running into some of the same problems as religion.
But if you read the Bible, God used to prove himself all the time. Flames from heaven, pillars of fire, vast miracles that defied all known laws. What happened? Why did he stop doing that? Or did God ever exist and people just made up all that stuff like alien abductions, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
Well many people have no God in their lives, except for themselves. I will take your question personally and talk for myself.
I didn't choose to be here and neither did anyone else. Consequently I am not responsible for my existence. Your question, if I read it correctly, is who is responsible for everything.
Well the question is complicated enough but the answer is even more complex. All we have to go on (evidence) is what we know or believe.
I can make one guarantee. We will be educated. We will know the answers to all these questions someday. The reason I say this is because we are not responsible for our existence.
Since someone else is responsible that being will have all the answers otherwise what would be the point of us being here in the first place?
experience! you can't say "the world is flat." if you have no proof . I believe what i've been taught . it just makes sense.
I know that I know that God exists and that He loves you. I can't prove it . you can only recieve or reject , I just know. what is important to me is in 6,000- 1,000,000 years , where will you be?
Ok.No one can really offer existence of a god and nobody can disprove the existence of god. I am a christian and I base my beliefs off of personal experience. That makes god real to me. It does not matter whether someone says if there is a god or not. Each person holds their believes and refuses to be swayed. That makes that god real to them.
Each person has to make their own decision about whether or not there is a god. But to me.religion is worth it. If being a christian makes me more likely to do good or help someone else, I think it is worth it. All the holy wars are worthless. They do nothing but spread dissension and hatred. Everyone should offer their evidence...if the people aren't swayed, do as what is said in the bible. Dust off your feet and continue on.
Decide for yourself if there is a god. I can't tell you what to believe in. To me, god is real. It may just be a placebo effect, but it gives me something to believe in and live for.
Good question.
Proof? I don't think so. It can be argued for and against by using philosophy, but I don't think anyone is going to trot God out on a stage or anything.
There are many people that claim to have a relationship with God, and I suppose it could be a mass delusion that is going on. Some folks try and "prove" the existence of God using Pascal's wager, but they are using it incorrectly. Pascal's wager should only be used to open your mind to possibilities that maybe millions of people aren't wrong and that investigation into God's existence should be given a bit more attention. This attention can take the form of simply sending out a prayer that you are willing to open your mind and heart to God if He would reveal Himself to you in a decisive manner so that you could feel a presence. Then again, some people would say that anything you feel is simply wishful thinking.
I believe in God, and it's not a crutch for me. The annihilation of my being doesn't scare me at all, so I haven't turned to God because I'm afraid of death. To me, eternal death isn't frightening at all.
my personal oppion is like you stated both sides have a great
explanation of yes or no. but its more upto each person.
we all look for answers about just anything, some believe that
its more of a spiritual thing to believe and hard [still] most
facts can be torn apart too. im from the old school, but i belive
i dont go to church very much, if i feel the need to prey i can at home or anywhere else, this what i call bull sh... any so call church that say you must go to a church or their church are full of it , just like the ones that say you have to donate a percentage of your income to the church..if you ask the question then you believe in something. the sole is not part of your body that can be seen or removed, but how many of us, use the term and believe we all have one. in your heart, and mind, and memories of past loved ones kind of says we believe they have gone some where, a believe they are going somewhere other then a hole in the ground..
Hmm. You seem to have a lot of this type of question scattered throughout FindHomeAnswerss. Sounds like spiritual warfare over your soul... anyway... A fool says in his heart that there is no God.
Try this. Say, "God -- if You exist -- well, show Yourself to me. Show me. SHOW ME! Do something that will blow my mind. Do something that will freak me out. Then maybe I'll believe in You. Otherwise, maybe I won't. So SHOW ME SOMETHING."
Then, just go on with your life. Dumdedoo... Then when He does do something in your life day by day that you can't explain away any other way, you'll have to make that decision that everyone has to make. You won't be able to just "go on with your life" as it was. When you find out that God hears you and answers you, and LOVES you like nobody can, you won't need some mundane scientific proof generated by limited human minds.
Say, "Show me if you exist, GOD" --- Try it... **What have you got to fear if you don't believe anything will happen?** But remember, God's ways are not man's ways ("prove it" is man's way, but God says, "I AM.") and it won't be what you expect and you may not have a proof, but it will be undeniable.
To "Junto America" -- who says that God "doesn't do that anymore"? The Bible says that in the last days, God will pour out His spirit on all people and Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. These are the last days -- only the last set of prophecies in the Bible remain yet to be fulfilled. The book of Mark 16 gives a list of signs that follow those who believe. And they do. Conversely, if you don't believe, no signs will follow.
i don't go to church, but i believe there is a God..Take a good look around. Do you think the beautiful flowers, trees, etc. all happened by accident?? if planets exploding caused Earth and all its life to form, then why doesn't the moon, etc. look like earth..or, the earth look like the other planets??
There is no higher level. and if there is , man surely will find a way to F*** it up...
