What's better? Aluminum or fiberglass window screen?

Question:

Answers:
I have the fabric screens now, but had aluminum before & believe that the metal is much better. It's stronger, lasts longer, easier to clean & won't stretch out the way fabric does. Fabric is cheaper to replace, but overall I'd go with the aluminum.

Alum. Is tough, fiberglass is not. Do you have animal's? If so go with alum.
Alum. is better. The fiberglass can also be eaten by grasshoppers. If you get a rip/ hole alum can be patched by sewing with thread a patch over it. fiberglass can't- kellie

Aluminum will last a lot longer and it won't punture nearly as easily. The black fabric screening is a lot easier to install though than aluminum and the black fabric does tend to look a little better. As the fabric ones get older though, then do tend to get more brittle and tear easier. So both have their pros and cons. The fabric is cheaper than aluminum also.
It's like one answer says, have pets, insects, sun screen. All these are things to consider. If you have pets, or children who play around the area (ball and the like) then you might want to consider something else. The now make a pet resistant screen. it is a woven very strong string coated in a rubber like coating. has a slightly darker appearance but resists puncture and cuts. a little more expensive but worth the cost. Actually a little easier to install, not as likely to be punctured during installation.
