Spur of socket?
Question:can i run a triple socket (or a double and single)spurred of an existing ring socket., to run a fidge, freezer and dryer, as i have them next to each other(no other socket nearby ).hows best to do it?
Answers:
No, what you are asking shouldn't be done.. A spur off of a 30amp ring main using 2.5mm flat twin and earth should have a max. of one double socket outlet. If a double socket outlet is added though you could use a twin outlet short trailing/extension lead (ideally with 1.5mm 3core flex) plugged into one of those outlets to give you a total of three sockets where you want them. If that were done I would plug the fridge and the freezer into the trailing double socket, and the dryer into the free outlet on the spur.
when i did some electrical work i found this site very helpful
give it a go

You can run a double socket as a spur from an exiating double as long as the existing double is on a ring. If it only has one set of wires going into it, then it is already a spur and you cannot spur off it. If it has 2 sets of wires going into it, then it is indeed on a ring. Make the spur connection as a third set of wires into the socket in 2.5 mm T&E. Don't forget the earth sleeving. The other end has to be a double or a triple, but NOT a double and a single, as this would entail a spur off a spur.
if you are a qualified electrician YES, if not definitely NO!
that's the law!
sorry to be blunt.
Split the circuit at the existing socket and feed to and from the existing socket to the triple socket, it means refeeding one side but it maintains a true ring.
Under the latest amendment to the Wiring Regulations (commonly known as Part P) you are allowed to add additional spur sockets providing that the nuber of outlets on the spur does not exceed the number of outlets on the socket that you're taking the spur from.
BUT - you, as a DIY'er, are not permitted to undertake any suck work on your ring main in certain areas. Kitchens and other places where there is water are included in the restricted areas.
Your easiest solution in buy a socket expander (not a simple extension lead). This is usually a triple or quad outlet with pins on the back that plugs into an existing socket and sits over the top of it. There's no trailing lead. When fitted it looks just like a multi-way socket that's sticking proud of the wall by about an inch.
Usually available from places like B%Q.
Rule Of Thumb: You can install a double socket as a spur off any double socket on a ring main, You cannot spur off a spur as you suggest, as the items you mention will create a high load and may damage the cable feeding the spur. Best bet for what you require is to break the ring and extend it to install a couple of extra point to cope with your requirements. Bottom line, if in doubt, consult a qualified sparky,.
