Help with wiring?

Question:Well, i was trying to do this :http://www.tricklife.com/view.php?id=612...
but i failed bad
could someone explain it in easy steps telling which wire goes to which and how the anodes and cathodes are placed?

Answers:
First some basic electricity knowledge here.
You are connecting the LEDs in paralell to the speaker. This means, amperage is divided between the two devices ( the speaker and the LED). However, you'lll also need to realize as you increase the volume you are also increasing the amperage going to the speaker + LED. However, you will reach a point where the LED will not be able to handle the amperage and will burn out. After all, don't forget this is the amps coming out of the " Amplifier" so it is much higher than what went into the amplifier - that is why it is called an amplifier.

Consider this, if you have a 60 watt stereo, and it is connected to a 120 volt supply then

60 watts / 120 v = 0.5 Amps coming out of the amplifier.

Now we have to look at the fact that more current will travel through the path of lease resistance - which has to be the LED.
Also, since a speaker is in part a coil - we need to consider induced voltage cause by the coil. Not to mention - as stated above, as the volume increase the current traveling through the LED increases as well.
The Led is doomed to burn out at some point - not a very high point in this arrangement.

If you are compelled to do this then remember LED stands for " Light Emitting Diode" so the key here is " Diode" this means in one direction it will allow current to pass and in the other direction it will prevent current from passing ( for the mostpart anyhow).
So you do not have to worry about which way you connect it - if it don't work one way reverse it and it will.
In reverse it will be as if the LED were not in the circuit and all of the current will pass directly through the speaker. In the forward direction the current takes two paths, through the LED and the Speaker with most of the current passing through the LEd because of less resistance.

Come on, electrical fires are way to common. Hire a professional and realize the money spent was a good investment!
