Tape ruler?
Question:What is the diamond shape on the tape ruler used for?
Answers:
Stud intravels
It's not stud intervals, it's for roofing. It's rafter oriented.
The marks are every 16 inches. These are use to measure stud centers when building walls or ceilings.
If the tape has marks every 16", and the diamonds are at other intervals, they could be used in like Canada, as there stud spacing is not the same as ours in America. ( I think.)
Daffyduc is right... It is located on the 19.2" mark. The diamonds are for laying out rafters... Stud are located 16" on center. See below for more S
every damn one of yall is wrong, it is 193/8's it is for a Floor system. Instead of using 2x10, it is a system where they use 2x3's with plywood in between,it is the same width as a 2x10,but lighter, but a lot stronger. and the diamonds marks are the center for the floor system,I been doing this for 20 yrs.I know
Your rafters are laid out on 16in centers, rafters go on top of your studs, unless you have trustes(prefab rafters)
yeah, Weasel said it right. Go Weasel!!
The Weasel is 100% correct.
