How do I wire the remote sensor to my ceiling fan?
Question:I bought a house that came with a ceiling fan thatwas supposedto remote controlled. However, the idiot that wired the house wasn't sure how to wire the remote sensor and threw it away. I made him get a new one since you cannot control the speed of the fan w/o it. My question is really where am I supposed to wire it? The ceiling fan has a long stem. Do I mount the sensor at the top on the ceiling or can wire it where the stem meets the actual motor? I would assume that the wiring would be the same at both places, right, but I don't want it to look out of place and I want the sensor to be able to read the remote control.
Answers:
it is wired to the top inside the fan cover, the black wire in box goes to black wire of ceiling box and the blue wire is for the lights it also goes to the black wire on ceiling box ,the white goes to white, the numbers in the transmitter have to correspond with the hand remote, i installed 3 of them with all my fans never had a problem.
It wires to the top where the box is , the unit should have a set of 2 wires a black and a white on one side of unit and 3 wires on the other side usually black , white and blue or red this side wires right to fan unit color to color, the black and white will wire into the wires that are in the box white to white and black to black
