Badly fitting sink?
Question:My Kitchen sink, (left single drainer) was not fitted properly by the previous occupant. The draining board is bowed downwards so that a puddle of water collects in the middle of it.
On first appraisal it seems to be a straightforward job, but since I'm not a plumber or a kitchen fitter I need to know if this is the case or if there are any pitfalls I should look out for before I take the job on.

First impression: sounds more like a bad sink than bad fitting. Perhaps think about replacing it with a better quality one.
as i am a plumber i can say dont do the job yourself get some in the cost is about 60 pounds to fit a new sink if you get the sink for him
The sink is bent or dented, not installed wrong.
Replacing it is not a huge deal, if you have some idea. It includes: possibly recutting the countertop, refitting of old faucet or maybe a new one, sealing the sink at countertop, clamping the sink to the countertop in a tight spot, hooking up the plumbing - maybe new supply lines, possibly rerouting drain along with installing a strainer basket. This makes it sound easy, there's more to it. If you feel like trying, go ahead. That's the best way to learn.
The draining board is bowed down because someone has stood on it. People usually do this to fitmkitchen curtains etc. You may be able to knock it back into shape by hitting it with your fist fom underneath, but be careful you don't knock it off the clamps holding it.
If you're competent at DIY you should be able to do this job yourself. Sounds as though the sink has warped by someone standing on it to clean windows, tile the walls, hang curtains?Trying to knock it back into shape could prove a problem. I'd buy a new sink and refit it. Make sure you get the same size though so it fits the cut out. Hope this helps
