American made tablesaws?
Question:I am looking to buy a table saw in the near future. I'd kind of like to get one made in the US. Does anyone have a list of all the American manufacturers that make tablesaws. Price is not an issue.

Hey everyone...Remember Ryan said price was no object. If this is truly the case; I recommend either a Jet, or a Delta 12" cabinet saw. Those contractor saws just don't have enough cast iron, and are impossible to control with dust collection. The added weight makes glass smooth cuts, by reducing vibrations. A 12" saw has more power, and is capable of re-sawing timber. Now Ryan needs a fence. Ryan; If you are a traditionalist, get a Biesmeyer fence. If you like gadgets, or are doing precise work, get a Incra-fence. After you get all of that, E-mail me. I'll hop the pond to cut in your shop!
I think that Craftsman is American made and Makita might be also.
Delta is still made in America
Best table saws out their for cutting wood and such on would be by CRAFTMAN you can find this table saws at SEARS. They have different variety of table saws even portable saw tables that you could take to your friends or work for some cutting and some come with an adjustable blade lever to help you cut 45s 22s and so on.
Craftsman makes some excellent ones, so does Delta.
My old Rockwell (30 years old) still saws through anything!

There is no doubt if you want American, you want Crafstman.
Great products at reasonable prices.
I own a couple of their table saws and would recommend them to anyone. BTW I use use one of the saws on a daily basis and have never had a problem with it and it's been 15 yrs.
if price is no problem get henzehold german made, but the best tool made. delta is the best american brand out there.
I've had a few table saws in my life. One from Sears had the blade attached directly to the motor. That was bad; it didn't last very long. The motor burned out.
Get one that has a belt from the motor to the blade.
Check out Ridgid brand saws. I have three, and they work great.
Jet, Delta, Powermatic. Old Craftsman were good, but now they aren't up to snuff.
But one of the best saws I have used was a 50+ year old Powermatic with a new Beisermeyer Fence. It was in the millshop of a company where I used to work. They got it from a high school that was auctioning a bunch of woodworking tools. Also got a drill press, lathe, planer and jointer. All for a lot less than new. It is true, they don't make them like they used to.
It depends what you are using it for. I'd say 2hp belt drive motor on 220V. And a long for fence, four feet at least, that slides easily and locks firmly down. The fence needs to operate at least 24" on both sides of the blade. A high quality fence is one of the most important parts of the table saw. And you need an outfeed table at least 6' (you make that yourself) beyond the blade. That should cover most woodworking projects. If need more than that, then you are doing something specialized, and go talk to an area millshop. They can help more.
There is a saying, "It is a poor carpenter that blames his tools." There is a kernel of truth there, but if you have the means buy the best equipment you can, but that doesn't always mean most expensive.
