What IS the correct way to hang a picture on the wall?

you can either find a wall stud close to where you want pic and put a hanger in the wall, through the stud there, (assuming one hanger will suffice for pic). or you can use a dry wall anchor which will hold pic secure without being driven in a stud. there are many kinds of dry wall anchors that can support quite a bit of weight without being in a stud.
wall studs are typically on 16' centers so you can start from the corner and measure out in 16' incraments to find a stud. HOWEVER, i suggest dry wall anchors, because once you learn how to use them, (and they are simple), you will never ever be limited to wall support studs again. for hanging stuff, (mirrors, big pics, whatever)..
Ok I've seen my grandma do it several times you have to like put it on that level thing and see if its straight and stuff and it takes a long time.. but my way is it put it on the wall and see if it looks good and be like oh yep good enough for me
